BTCCSquare news:

The European Union has escalated trade tensions with the United States by imposing retaliatory tariffs worth 72 billion euros on American goods. The measures target key exports including automobiles, Boeing aircraft, and bourbon, reflecting the bloc's response to President Donald Trump's earlier imposition of 20% reciprocal tariffs on EU goods.

A 206-page list published by the European Commission outlines the countermeasures, which also extend to machinery, plastics, chemicals, and agricultural products. Notably, the document omits specific tariff rates, leaving room for negotiation as the August 1 deadline for Trump's threatened 30% tariffs on EU and Mexican goods approaches.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke condemned the US tariff threats as "unacceptable" during a Brussels press conference. The EU's MOVE comes after the US adjusted its auto tariffs to a baseline 10% rate in April, ostensibly to facilitate global trade discussions.
